Solar energy is now produced in dozens of shapes, sizes, and materials that didn’t exist just a few years ago, like building integrated PV as an architectural element or rugged and flexible PV for portability, to name a couple. Conventional solar panels have benefitted from panel-level power optimizers and DC power conditioners that increase watts of power output per dollar of installed costs, but these devices are not physically compatible or cost-effective for most unconventional panels.
Uplift Solar’s power electronics are compatible with almost all solar panel models. Darius Roberts is an expert software programmer and serial entrepreneur who has worked in both private and publicly regulated industries, including broadband, transportation, and energy. He is deeply interested in how tech can support outcomes in line with sound public policy, and his roles as founder of a car-sharing company and of Uplift Solar Corp. reflect that. Projects that have benefited from his senior programming skills include seamless, closed data sharing across the Department of Defense; FCC broadband auctions; airplane e-commerce; and a platform for distributing emergency mobile money to African populations affected by crisis. In the mid-2000s, Darius lived in China and worked as an advisor to a transportation policy non-profit organization. A self-taught programmer, Darius holds a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering from Rice University and did his graduate studies with the Institute of Transportation Studies at University of California, Davis.
